71Five VoTech Assistant Coordinator – Grants Pass

Matt Sweeney began his career with Youth 71Five Ministries in 1997 serving as a volunteer with Rogue Valley YFC in the Juvenile Detention Center. In 2001 his status changed when he joined the staff as the Juvenile Justice Ministry Director. In 2010 he married Jan who volunteers as a detention center chaplain since 2008.
After 20 years serving as the head chaplain of the detention center Matt released the reigns of 71Five Justice to take on the role as Ministry Coordinator. His years of experience and training were redirected toward developing and supporting a new generation of ministers. Matt supervised the areas of 71Five Mentors and 71Five VoTech until 2024. Matt now focuses on assisting 71Five, specifically in Grants Pass, as 71Five launches our 71Five VoTech Training Center and our 71Five City Community Center into one new location.
Matt Sweeney views his task simply; ‘My #1 responsibility is the success of these directors and their programs.’ With this goal clearly in focus Matt is committed to several more years of service in Youth 71Five Ministries.
At home Matt enjoys being a husband and dad but perhaps his favorite identity is Papa to his grandchildren. With projects around the house, a wood shop out back, his bicycle, camping and other travels Matt loves life, loves his family and especially loves his Lord.
