71Five VoTech Assistant Coordinator – Grants Pass
John was born and raised in Southern California as the youngest of six kids. He grew up in a Christian home, but never fully embraced a relationship or walk with the Lord until moving to Oregon in 2015 due to unexpected trials and injury from the Marine Corps. Due to the unexpected tribulations and life bringing him to his knees, John embraced the Lord and gave up control of his life once he found himself at rock bottom feeling hopeless and broken.
After moving to Oregon John started to pick himself back up and began a career in the banking industry beginning as a teller and then moving to the residential and commercial side of the mortgage industry. During this time on the side, he also spent many years coaching baseball including – little league, travel ball, and high school. John spent time on the Little League Board in Grants Pass as well as a coach. He stopped coaching in 2020 and decided to jump on board of the high school youth ministry program at his church where he served as a youth leader for the past four years. This grew a deeper passion for mentoring and telling the youth about the amazing hope we have in Jesus. After spending time praying about where the Lord needs him to be, John walked away from the mortgage and banking industry to pursue a passion for mentoring and guiding youth. While working in Juvenile Detention, John came across and began to work with the 71 Five staff in the facility and began to learn about the organization. After more time in prayer with his wife on the Lord’s leading, he took another leap of faith and joined 71Five VoTech as the Assistant Coordinator in Grants Pass.
John married his wife in 2022 and is expecting their first child. In his free time, he enjoys playing any sport or doing something outside such as fishing or hunting. John is also an artist and spends time drawing, wood burning, or creating something.
