Building Relationships With Teens In Detention…

At 71Five Justice, we reach out to high-risk teens in tough situations. Young people are met in a variety of locations such as detention centers, probation programs, correctional facilities, group homes, residential treatment centers and emergency shelters. Relationships are developed and sustained while kids are locked up and as they re-enter their communities. 71Five Justice staff and volunteers are committed to building relationships that last long after teens have left the juvenile justice system.

71Five JUSTICE Includes:

  • Monday-Friday-One to one visits and mentoring at detention and Barriers to Bridges residential program (B2B): This time is vital for getting to know the youth to provide support and encouragement. Sharing the love of God, we work to develop authentic relationships that stand the test of time.
  • Tuesday and Thursday Night-Group at detention and B2B: Discussions on many different spiritual topics. We use media presentations, Bible teaching, personal testimonies along with anything else that sets the stage to share and discuss the Gospel. This time is a key part of cultivating new relationships.
  • Wednesday Night-Bible Study at Church for B2B youth.
  • Friday-Prayer Requests from the youth emailed most weeks with names and summaries for prayer partners. If you would like to join this prayer team and receive the email reach out to prayers@71Five.org
  • Sunday Chapel-Teams of dedicated Pastors/Chaplains teach from the Bible at juvenile detention, pray with kids, and meet afterwards to provide encouragement and guidance.
  • Sunday-Interested youth from the B2B program are picked up by 71Five volunteers to attend regular church services.
